web analytics now has three main ways of collecting data: Web logs, JavaScript tags, and packet sniffer.

1. Web log

as you can see from the above figure, the collection of site analysis data starts from the web site visitor entering URL and issuing a HTTP request to the web server. The web server receives a request to append a record in your Log file, records include: remote host name (or IP address), login name, login name, request date, requesting time, request details (including the request method, address, protocol, request return) the state, the size of the document request. 2. JavaScript mark

above, the JavaScript tag starts with the Web log collection data, starting from the web visitor’s http request. The difference is that the JavaScript tag returns the page code to the visitor, which contains a special JavaScript code that is executed when the page is displayed. This code gets detailed information from the visitor’s Cookie (access time, browser information, tool vendor’s current visitor’s userID, etc.) and sends it to the vendor’s data collection server. The data collection server stores the data collected and stores it in the database. Site managers view these data by accessing the analysis reporting system.
