Wasn’t there an article not very long ago that Vader was dying? Former WWE and WCW star Vader (Leon White) is said to have collapsed after wrestling a match at Koruaken Hall in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday. Vader was wrestling in a 6-Man Tag, alongside Keiji Muto and AKIRA against WWE Hall of Famer Tatsumi Fujinami, Riki Choshu and Shiro Koshinaka to commemorate the 45th Anniversary of Fujinami’s pro wrestling debut. Vader was able to leave on his own power to the back and attended a party held by Fujinami in the hours following the event. Vader posted the following on Twitter on Thursday night, revealing that the cause for the collapse came due to being dropped on his head early on in the match and downplayed that it had to do with his heart issues he has mentioned that he has been dealing with over the last several months. last night the first match for Fujinamis 45th anneversary show in Tokyo Sold out Did the opening spot with Fujinami I dropped on my head— Big Van Vader (@itsvadertime) April 20, 2017 April 21, 2017 at 10:30 am Now Playing Up Next Seth Rollins Kurt Angle Ronda Rousey Releases Mugshot After Arrest On WWE Raw Videos Articles April 21, 2017 at 7:34 pm Get well soon, Vader. Ronda Rousey on battling her motor speech disorder Jeff Hardy on taking

first_img WWE Clash of Champions Results – 9/15/19 (Rollins vs. Strowman, Kingston vs. Orton) WhatsApp Pinterest Twitter USA Today is featuring an interview with Ronda Rousey where she talks about her transition from MMA to pro wrestling and battling a speech disorder since childhood.“I grew up with apraxia, which is a motor speech disorder. I had years of speech therapy, and I’ve always had problems slurring or mispronouncing my words. In the ring, it’s so important that you speak so clearly and you’re easy to understand and that you don’t falter at all, that it makes me more nervous and more likely to actually mispronounce things. It’s been really great for me to be able to work on it and overcome those fears that I’ve had since I was a little kid.”Rousey also talked about expecting to get negative reactions from WWE fans.“I expected everyone to boo me out of the building from Day One, and every time I walk out there, I feel like I’m just falling in love with every single person at once. It would be fun to turn (bad) one day but it’s addicting to have all that positivity.”Rousey challenges Alexa Bliss tonight at SummerSlam for the RAW Women’s Title.Jeff Hardy on taking bumps at 40 years oldTheWhig.com is featuring an interview with WWE star Jeff Hardy where he talks about feeling banged up at the age of 40 right now in his wrestling career.“I’m 40 now and I’ve been pretty banged up lately. I’ve actually cut that out of a lot of events and I’ve just been using the Twist of Fate as a finish and it’s helped my lower back out a lot. I pretty much now save the Swanton for television unless I’m feeling really good at a live event.”Hardy also revealed an issue recently with his elbow.“I’m a little beat up, but my back is a lot better than it was a few weeks ago. I’ve been having this issue with my elbow, like a nerve issue, and my hand was asleep for probably seven weeks and it’s finally woken. Two Portland restaurants investigated for hepatitis

first_imgHealth officials in Portland are warning patrons of two Cup & Saucer cafes that they may have been exposed to hepatitis A.The people believed to be at risk ate at the restaurant at 8237 N. Denver Ave. from March 22-29 or at 3566 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd. on March 22-23, according to the Multnomah County Health Department. They should contact their doctor.People who ate or drank at the Denver Avenue location between Feb. 22 and March 21 should also contact their doctor if they have any symptoms of hepatitis A.No existing cases involve the Cup & Saucer Cafe at 3000 N.E. Killingsworth St.According to a news release, hepatitis A is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis A virus. It typically causes a temporary illness of fever, tiredness, belly pain, vomiting, diarrhea and jaundice (a yellowing of the skin or eyes). It is highly contagious, and people become infected by swallowing the virus, which is present in the feces of an ill person. It can spread from person to person by inadequate hand washing after using the toilet or changing diapers, or eating food prepared by an infected person. It can also be passed by sexual contact. Hepatitis A is not spread by saliva. The current investigation began with a case of hepatitis A reported on March 20. The restaurant worker stayed home  to recover, and health officials vaccinated the restaurant staff according to public health guidelines. On Monday, April 3, a second individual connected to the cafe was confirmed as having hepatitis A. Because of possible transmission at the restaurant, health officials urge anyone who ate or drank at the two restaurants during the time frames above to see their health care provider to be vaccinated or receive advice specific to their situation.last_img read more

Vancouver City Council updates accessory dwelling units rules

first_imgVancouver city councilors were split over whether an ordinance updating accessory dwelling units standards should become law as is, but at the end of Monday’s council meeting it narrowly passed 4-3.The ordinance makes several changes to the way Vancouver regulates ADUs, secondary residential units built within or next to single-family homes. The more controversial changes that passed eliminate on-site, off-street parking requirements and owner-occupancy requirements, which means both the main house and ADU can be rentals.Encouraging ADU development by relaxing restrictions was a recommendation of the Affordable Housing Task Force that met between May and December 2015. Mayor Tim Leavitt, along with Councilors Alishia Topper and Anne McEnerny-Ogle, sat on the task force. Rules and regulations around accessory dwelling units haven’t changed substantially since 2004, and only about 65 have been legally built since 2000. Prior to Monday’s meeting the updates had been discussed at an open house and city council and planning commission workshops. Before Monday evening’s vote, people spoke for and against the changes.Stephanie Turlay, Councilor Bill Turlay’s wife, said she finds it difficult to understand the “pack ’em and stack ’em attitude” considering existing congestion in Vancouver. She’s worried about property values going down as ADUs are built.“I do not see that the city has any business changing the integrity of neighborhoods as they now stand,” she said, adding that the old ADU requirements worked fine. “To me this whole thing is really basically unenforceable.”last_img read more

Two hurt in fiery crash west of Battle Ground

One person was seriously hurt, and another’s injuries were unclear. The two patients, a 19-year-old man and a woman in her 50s, were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for treatment, he said. The sheriff’s office said the man and a witness helped pull the driver and sole occupant in the minivan to safety before the fire got to her.Dawdy said the man told firefighters they reached through the minivan’s window to wrench its door open, then pulled the woman inside to safety.last_img read more

Carolyn Propstra dies unsung hero of Esther Short Park project

first_imgIf you enjoy the urban beauty of the red brick square in Esther Short Park, with its clock tower and fountain, you can thank Carolyn Propstra. The Vancouver philanthropist, described as a humble and honest woman, died Friday at age 85.Back in the day, Carolyn Propstra volunteered twice weekly at what used to be called the Portland Oregon Visitors Association (now Travel Portland). The gig often took her through Pioneer Courthouse Square and she thought Vancouver should get something similar. So, she had her husband, Burgerville founder George Propstra, visit the public space in downtown Portland. They later gave $2 million toward the construction of Propstra Square and $1.64 million for the clock tower.“I always thought Carolyn was the unsung hero of that project,” said Nancy Hales, who was executive director of the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington when the Propstras were actively donating to causes around Clark County in the early 1990s to mid-2000s. “She subtly put her influence in everything.”Hales added that Carolyn Propstra’s love of children led to the water feature in Esther Short Park.Carolyn Propstra worked for Burgerville’s parent company, Holland Inc., for 30 years, which is how she met George Propstra. After his wife of 52 years, Margaret Kettenring, died in 1990, Carolyn and George married. They spent their retirement years donating to causes around the community. They gave more than $13 million through the Community Foundation, including $5 million for the Jim Parsley Center, $2.2 million for the Propstra Aquatics Center at McLoughlin Middle School, $1.1 million for Propstra Stadium at Hudson’s Bay High School and $100,000 to the I Have a Dream scholarship program.last_img read more

This primary focus is to ensure fair and equitable fuel prices but also to give customers the assurance and confidence of the quality of fuel that they purchase.”During her contribution to the Budget Debate last month Minister Misick explained that the Electricity and Utilities Commissioner is complete his study of the sluggish price changes on the cost of fuel within the industry locally when compared to those abroad. Those findings have been touted as complete for two months now, and have not yet been revealed to the public. Also coming, solar powered street lights for Grand Turk as a pilot project; an overhaul at the NJS Francis Building to improve energy efficiency, regulations for electricians in the country “…this bill, Mr. Speaker, will ensure for the first time in the TCI, a level playing field for electricians who will no longer be deprived of bidding on projects because of licensing mechanisms…” and changes in policies as the TCI has a draft legislative framework already prepared to impact electricity specifically. Minister Misick said the Administration remains committed to the Carbon War Room pact signed in the BVI; it is a commitment to reduce dependency on Fossil Fuels. It was explained that the EUD or Electricity & Utilities Department is working to enhance public awareness and recently launched a Facebook page; the public is slow to respond though, the Department has so far only managed to get 11 likes. first_imgFacebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsAppProvidenciales, TCI, September 12, 2016 – Commenting on a new documentary series about to be screened by the BBC, the Governor, Peter Beckingham, said:“There are many reasons why our Turks and Caicos Islands attract so many visitors each year, but one must be at the top of everyone’s list: the magic of an environment surrounded by crystal clear turquoise seas. The color is so distinctive, even from the height of a jet crossing from Miami to South America, that I have heard of passengers asking to know which group of islands  they were flying over. We should treasure that beauty.“Thanks to the endurance and hard graft of a British naturalist our “beautiful by nature” islands have been recorded for thousands to see on film or in a book. Stewart McPherson decided, with enormous ambition, to create a series of films for TV on all the Overseas Territories, entitled “Britain’s Treasure Islands”. The series was shown earlier this year on BBC’s Channel Four, and a book of the series has just been published. Extraordinarily, he must be one of the few people who can claim he has visited, in a journey of over 70,000 miles, all 14  Overseas Territories, from Anguilla to Pitcairn Islands, and the British Indian Ocean Territory to the Falkland Islands.“I’m delighted to say that Turks and Caicos Islands has its own section, and Stewart has highlighted in some beautiful photography and film many of our natural highlights. Of course the wildlife is featured prominently, with some great film (some of it by David Stone, former Vice President of our  Reef Fund) of migratory humpbacks, the endangered loggerhead turtles, sting and eagle rays and sea turtles. Our wonderful birdlife is also shown:  where, as the film asks, can you be in a capital city with its own resident flamingos?“The film doesn’t spare some of the more disturbing aspects of TCI’s earlier history, depicting the “vile industry” of cotton picking and salt production before slavery was abolished. Thankfully the filming does gloss over the recurring environmental problems we face by litter.“Stewart McPherson’s film is a wonderful boost for Turks and Caicos. It highlights the urgent need for us to preserve and be proud of our environment. I hope that copies of the book, which I expect to be able to present to schools during Jill’s Footsteps4Good walk across the islands in September, will encourage and educate our younger generation to take pride and pleasure in one of the most beautiful environments in the world.“You can see extracts from the BBC series about TCI on  www.britainstreasureislands.com/. It’s well worth spending ten minutes reminding ourselves how fortunate we are to live in this environment. Take a look this week!” Related Items:Britian’s Treasure Islands, Stewart McPherson, TCI showcased on BBC documentary Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsApplast_img read more
